Toyota is recalling 68,356 2022–2024 Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350 Hybrid and NX450h+ SUVs (NHTSA campaign 26V687000, Lexus code 26LA10) because the gauge cluster may not show some warnings, including oil pressure, coolant temperature and charging. Dealers will update the cluster software for free. Letters are expected December 7, 2026. You can check your VIN now.

The new Lexus NX recall covers the combination meter, the digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. It was reported to NHTSA on October 20, 2026, and the fix is a free software update at a Lexus dealer. If you own a 2022, 2023 or 2024 NX, run a VIN check now instead of waiting for the letter. While you're at it, look for the older NX camera, airbag and head-restraint recalls, which are listed below.

What is the Lexus NX instrument cluster recall?

Toyota is recalling "certain 2022-2024 Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350 Hybrid, and NX450h+ vehicles" because the combination meter "may fail to display certain warnings or indicators". As a result, these SUVs don't meet FMVSS 101, "Control and Displays". That's the federal safety standard setting out which gauges and warning lights a driver must be able to see.

This is more than a cosmetic glitch. NHTSA's consequence statement says a display that "fails to show engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, or electrical charge increases the risk of a crash". In practice, the engine could lose oil pressure, overheat or stop charging the 12-volt battery without the cluster warning you before something fails on the road.

Which Lexus NX models are affected?

The recall covers four versions of the NX across three model years. The word "certain" in the filing matters: not every NX built in those years is included. The exact production-date ranges are in Toyota's full defect report (the Part 573 filing), not the public summary. That makes a VIN check the reliable way to know whether your SUV is in.

Every row comes from the NHTSA campaign record.

Is it safe to drive my NX until the fix?

The risk NHTSA describes is a missing warning for low oil pressure, high coolant temperature or a charging fault. The record doesn't tell owners to stop driving or park outside. It's a warning-display problem, not a brake or steering failure. Until the update is done, a few habits lower the risk:

  • Watch the gauges, not just the warning lights. If the temperature reading climbs, or the cluster goes blank or freezes, pull over safely and switch off.
  • Keep up with oil changes and check the oil level so you're less likely to need a low-oil warning in the first place.
  • Take any odd cluster behavior to a dealer promptly. That includes missing indicators, a blank screen, or warnings that flash and disappear. Mention recall 26LA10.

How do I check if my Lexus NX has a recall?

You need your 17-character VIN (vehicle identification number). You'll find it at the lower driver's-side corner of the windshield, on the driver's door-jamb sticker, and on your registration and insurance card.

  1. Enter it at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see the open safety recalls for that exact vehicle.
  2. Or call Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and quote recall number 26LA10.
  3. Or give the VIN to your Lexus dealer's service department.

New campaigns can take time to appear in VIN lookups. If 26V687000 doesn't show up yet, check again closer to the December letter date.

What will the dealer do, and is it free?

The remedy is a software job: "Dealers will update the combination meter software, free of charge". That's a reflash, meaning new software is loaded onto the cluster's computer, and no parts are listed for replacement. The NHTSA record marks it as not an over-the-air update, so book a service visit. Lexus hasn't published how long the update takes. Call ahead, because the dealer may need Toyota to release the remedy software before it can do the work.

The recall work costs you nothing. If you already paid out of pocket to fix this exact cluster problem, keep the repair order. Owner letters usually explain how to ask for reimbursement.

When will Lexus NX owners get a recall letter?

Owner letters are "expected to be mailed December 7, 2026", about seven weeks after the October 20 filing. You can contact a dealer before then, but they may not be able to do the update until the remedy is released.

Lexus NX recall list: 2022–2024 NX recalls to check

This is the NX's third display-related recall in less than a year. On October 30, 2025, Toyota reported a Panoramic View Monitor software error that could freeze the rearview image or leave it blank. On March 18, 2026, a second camera campaign followed for rearview images that may not display at all. The cluster recall came on October 20, 2026.

NHTSA's records show these six campaigns covering 2022–2024 NX models (as of October 31, 2026). Several reach other models and years too, so "vehicles in campaign" counts all of them, not just NX.

The camera campaigns reach well beyond the NX. The Panoramic View Monitor recall covers 2022–2026 Toyota, Lexus and Subaru Solterra models with that system. The March 2026 camera recall also includes the 2023–2026 RX350 and 2024–2026 TX350.

The two airbag campaigns are the most urgent. The spiral cable, often called the clock spring, carries the airbag connection through the rotating steering column. If that connection separates, a deactivated airbag "will not deploy as intended". Airbag work is a dealer-only job. If your 2023–2024 NX already had the first spiral cable repair, check the VIN for the follow-up campaign, 25V040000, which covers vehicles that "may have been incorrectly repaired" the first time.

Does this recall affect my warranty or resale value?

Recall work is free and doesn't come out of your warranty coverage. None of the recall records say anything about resale value. Open recalls do show up in VIN checks that buyers and dealers run, so completing each campaign and keeping the paperwork keeps the history clean. If you're shopping for a used 2022–2024 NX, run the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls before you pay.

What isn't known yet

The public recall summary doesn't explain why the cluster software fails, how often it happens, which production dates are involved, or whether any crashes or injuries have been linked to it. Those details usually appear in the full Part 573 report and the dealer instructions. Until they're out, the VIN lookup is the final word on whether your NX is included.
